I am boss!

My boss had a bicycle accident during lunch break today. She spent 5 hours in the hospital; then she was free to go home. She isn't too badly injured. In fact, she was really lucky. She came in for 5 minutes tonight to let us know that she will be off sick the entire week and after that she'll be on annual leave for another two weeks. I was given the right to represent her while she's off! She even diverted her phone to mine. God, I'll be in power for three weeks. I'm going to have fun. I told X and he was thrilled for me (and for himself, I suppose). I already placed a call to the Sozialreferat's finance boss this evening to let her know I am running things now and I have at least five projects I am all going to start tomorrow. Three weeks are not a lot of time, especially as I'll be off during one of them. Mind you, if something important happens that week, I'll come in. LOL.

Anyway, there was more drama at the office today. X had some sort of office accident which he later described to me although I am too lazy to try to write it down here (doesn't matter anyway). He actually hurt his head and I spent all afternoon alternatively teasing him about his remaining brain cells and reassuring him that I would have really hated it if something bad had happened to him. I had to send him home at 7 because he could hardly focus. But not before we made extensive plans for a big convention on the 29th. I won't be attending because I am not important enough (not even now that I am boss) but I'll make sure X has everything he needs to come home with what we want. That will leave me extremely busy the rest of the week but I don't mind. I still love my job!

I agreed to have lunch with my office flirt tomorrow. *sigh* I guess I have to tell him eventually that I am not interested but I can't do that until he actually comes out with what he wants from me.

On Thursday, Anne invited me to come along to the opening of the Jewish Museum here Munich. I am looking forward to that one. I've been to the Jewish Museum in Berlin before so I'll be interested to see the one in Munich also. Maybe we'll meet some interesting people at the opening.

And now I need to work on some excel sheets. Yeah, I am crazy and I ain't getting paid for it. Good night!

Hey, congrats. Sounds like you're gonna have a good time. And it's great to see your boss still trusts you so much. Did she have more choices? Or does this really mean she thought you were the best choice to go for?

Actually, I am her only real choice. She actually has a Vice-Boss but he is crap and she knows it. But this is the first time she actually handed power to me. I am her best representation business-wise. She knows to put the personal stuff aside for business. Which is good. I wish her a speedy recovery. I am still working. :-(

Well, it's good to know she can put the personal stuff aside. Probably she likes you anyway, but it's hard for her to deal with the situation. *shrugs*
Don't work too much! :-D
But I know you also enjoy it. :-P

Moin Chef. :-D

Philipp @ March 20, 2007 03:15 PM

LOL. Chef musste heute 12 Stunden arbeiten, über Leichen gehen und hatte keine Zeit für Mittagspause. Dafür fahr ich jetzt nach Hause und werde den Kühlschrank plündern... *g*

Wie war dein Tag als Boss? :-D

Michelle @ March 21, 2007 08:14 PM

Whoa, Nellie...

Don't do anybody in while you're acting as boss lady! Have you heard the term "Miss Anne"! It's very black American!
