I guess it was just a matter of time...
... before things were going to escalate at my job. It happened this morning. I wasn't even planning to come in because it's my mom's birthday today but I had to because there's a few things to do.
Anyway, yesterday afternoon, I am talking to a colleague of that big boss who is supposed to be our enemy. It was a meeting my boss knew and approved of. Anyway, we are sitting there and talking and the big boss comes in. He has a few questions for me that I answer. He's asking if I can make a little blue sheet for him summarizing the costs on some of our cost units for the year 2006. I say no problem.
So, I return to my place and, being good, I tell my boss what I am going to do. She doesn't look too thrilled but doesn't say anything against it. So, I put about three hours of work into this little excel sheet, then sent it to him with my boss cc-listed.
So, this morning she comes and says I should have talked to her about the result of my work before sending it to him. In the future, she doesn't want me to send him anything unless she approves. And, here it comes, she is going to talk to him and tell him not to ask me for anything directly ever again but to send all requests through her. This is mighty ridiculous as everyone else in our department is allowed to talk to me directly. It's just him that she hates and fears and if I don't hate and fear him as well, she will at least make sure he and I can't communicate. Very sweet.
I am actually so pissed I am considering talking and working for him without her knowledge or switching departments. I am not going to talk to him through her. Maybe I should try talking him into hiring me. I know he would but the powers that be in this department would probably make sure it doesn't happen.
Oh well, I am meeting my family for lunch, so I better be less angry by noon.
